On October 13, the Viking volleyball team traveled to Floodwood. For the fans who travel to watch the team play, it was another exciting evening of action.
TheVikings played hard and had some fantastic volleys and plays. They beat Floodwood three out of four games 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19.
Leading the way for the Vikings was Christina Nelson with 15 kills and 18 digs. Brea Boomer had 11 kills, 21 digs and four solo blocks; Ashley Deschampe had 10 kills; Carly Puch had 20 set assists and eight digs; Kristina Rude had 18 set assists and five ace serves. Also adding to the win was Essa Jacobsen with three solo blocks and Sammy Jacobsen with five ace serves.
This brings the Vikings’ record to 16-5 overall with one more game to be played at home on October 22 against North Shore rivals Silver Bay Mariners. The Vikings will also have a playoff game at home October 28 at 7 p.m. At press time, it is not known what team they will face. Cook County should have a seeding in the top four.
