Volleyball season ends in hard-fought playoff game

On November 4, the Viking volleyball team traveled back to Hermantown to continue Section 7A playoff action. Their opponent was the Spartans from Nashwauk-Keewatin. Both Sammy Jacobsen and Essa Jacobsen were back in the lineup for this match. With the Cook County Vikings volleyball team getting a No. 1 seed in the Section 7A playoffs, they had a first-round bye. In the second round of playoff action, the Vikings hosted the No. 8 seed Cotton Cardinals on Wednesday, October 28. On October 20, in honor of two women fighting the fight against breast cancer, the varsity volleyball team, along with the head coach and volleyball staff, hosted a fundraiser for breast cancer research called “Dig Pink.” The idea for the event came when teacher Kaye Tavernier and former volleyball player and 1998 CCHS graduate Meredith Church-Davison were diagnosed and began...
