The spirit of giving is always in season at North Shore Hospital and Care Center but even more so at this time of year. Holiday giving has already begun with a delivery of 25 poinsettias from Girl Scout Troop No. 4110. The residents want to thank the anonymous person who donated the beautiful plants to brighten rooms.
In the weeks ahead there is plenty to do—decorate four trees, bake holiday favorites, and finish ornaments and crafts for the Resident Council Holiday Sale. Our Friday “Bake Days” will be busier than ever as we prepare cookies for the traditional Christmas Eve party with families, staff, and special guests, Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Spirits will be lifted with visitors of all ages during the month of December. There will be school children for bingo, a piano recital, church groups, Girl Scout carolers, the Vineyard Church singers, and local musicians Myron Bursheim, Al Fuller, Harris Mills, and Susan Scherer.
The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14 to honor Donna Helmerson and Gerhard Meissner. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. along with piano music by Doug Sanders.
The residents look forward to going out to the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, lunch at the Senior Center, and a fish fry at Dockside Fish Market. We sure are grateful for Arrowhead Transit and the great drivers who make it possible for us to be on the go all year long!
There will be two special holiday dinner theatre activities this year in-house at the Care Center featuring the classic movies White Christmas on December 17 and Holiday Inn on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2013!
‘Tis the season to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
