The spirit of giving is always in season at North Shore Care Center, but even more so at this time of year. The residents count their blessings for family, friends, care center staff, and community members who give so much of their time throughout the year.
During this holiday season the giving will increase as volunteers of all ages visit the Care Center. The After School Lounge kids will assist with games, the cast of Cinderella
will present part of their play, Girl Scouts, schools, and church groups will sing Christmas carols, and our “regulars” will volunteer each week for chair exercise, Bible study, reading groups, word scrabble, bingo, current events, music, church services, and other activities. Santa and Mrs. Claus will even stop by with gifts for everyone on Christmas Eve.
The Lioness women will make holiday desserts to serve at their monthly social on December 12 at 3 p.m. with lively piano music by Irene Thompson.
There will be five birthdays to honor this month – centenarian Margot Florell celebrates her 103rd birthday on December 1st followed by Arline Blomberg on the 12th, Donna Helmerson on the 19th, Millie Benson on Christmas Day, and Grace Sieckert on the 31st. The monthly birthday party is December 9 at 3 p.m. with classic piano music performed by Doug Sanders.
Other live music in December will feature Al Fuller, Harris Mills, Jacob Siebel, and the Pincushion
Warblers.
The band Portage
will perform their classic country music for our Christmas Dance on December 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Sivertones Blue
Moon Band
will play for our New Year’s Eve Gala at 7 p.m. With December’s second full moon occurring on the 31st, this will undoubtedly be a once in a blue moon event. As always, families, friends, and community folks are welcome to join in the fun.
The residents have a full month filled with holiday baking, crafts, reminisce sessions, and other activities. There will be outings to the Messiah Concert, the play Cinderella,
and a holiday light tour. Happy holidays, everyone!
