Spring is in the air and it is certainly welcomed by residents at North Shore Care Center. There are lots of activities coming up in April to lift spirits – April Fool’s Day, indoor planting, spring crafts, filling eggs for the community egg hunt, Easter – and longer days of sunlight.
Spring cleanup is going on inside and outside and everyone looks forward to getting out on the patios soon. There will be early planting with our earth boxes, and a special gardening project planned for Earth Day.
April brings warmer weather with more outings in the community for shopping downtown, lunch at the Senior Center, and the Community Spring Concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
The monthly Birthday Party will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13 to honor Peg Keller and Delores McLean. There will be cake and ice cream at 3 p.m. along with classic piano music by Doug Sanders. The Grand Marais Lioness Club will host its monthly social for residents on Saturday, April 16 at 3 p.m. with delicious desserts and old-fashioned piano favorites by Irene Thompson.
The Sivertones! jazz ensemble will get together to perform at the Care Center on Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. The band Portage will perform their classic country music on Saturday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. Families, friends, and community folks are invited to join the fun at all the music events. Many thanks to our dedicated musicians!
April is National Volunteer Month. As the “Snow Birds” return to the area, we welcome you back, and want you to know that the annual Volunteer Brunch at the Care Center will be May 25 at 10 a.m.
