March came in like a lamb, and many residents at North Shore Care Center are thinking green—not because spring is in the air—but for St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

There will be plenty of Irish merriment going on with music and food before the 17th. Themusic begins with Monica Houglum’s Name That Irish
Tune
on March 11, followed by the “heavy mellow” songs of The S!vertones
on March 13. There will be Irish folk music St. Patty’s Day Party performed by Nathan Baker and a guest fiddler. An Irish stew dinner will be served at the Care Center, and there will be a lunch outing to the Cascade Restaurant for a taste of Ireland.

Other music featured in March will include Al Fuller, Susan Scherer, Myron Bursheim, Irene Thompson, and Susan Lindskog. Doug Sanders will play classic piano for the monthly birthday party on March 10 to honor Gert Scott, Vivian Gruber, Byron Whaley, and Audrey Haring.

The Portage Band
will perform classic country music for our dance at the end of the month on March 27 at 6:30 p.m. Family, friends, and community members are welcome to all our music events.

The first day of spring begins March 20th and residents are already talking about plans for indoor and outdoor gardening with our Earth Boxes. Spring is definitely in the air!

Many thanks to students from the After School Lounge Program who visit the Care Center twice a month to help with bingo, card games, and community service projects. Residents also appreciated learning about new Wii Sports Games from students Zach Sturm and Josie Freeburg in February.

There are volunteer opportunities for all ages at North Shore Care Center. For more information, please contact the Activity Department at 218.387.3518 or go to our website: www.nshorehospital. com.
