The residents at North Shore Care Center have “Spring Fever” – just like everyone else. Our early spring weather has lifted spirits and there are lots of activities planned for April. There will be Lenten and Easter services, traditional hot cross buns, coloring eggs, spring crafts, indoor gardening, and of course some April Fool’s jokes and trivia.

Spring clean up is going on indoors and outdoors with special gardening projects scheduled for Earth Day, April 22 and for Arbor Day, April 30. Extra hands are always needed at this time of the year, and the Kids Plus Afterschool Program has graciously offered to help out.

Residents look forward to weekly outings in April for lunch at the Senior Center and Blue Water Café, shopping, and to the Grand Marais Playhouse for the play Treasure
Island
at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.

Our monthly birthday party will honor Peg Keller, Laverne Hennessy, and Martha Quaife on April 14 at 3 p.m. with cake, ice cream, and music. The Lioness Club will bring in more goodies for their social on April 17 at 3 p.m.

The music lineup for April will feature Al Fuller, Susan Scherer, Myron Bursheim, Irene Thompson, and Susan Lindskog. The Sivertones
jazz ensemble will perform April 10 at 6 p.m., and the country band Portage
will play April 24 at 6:30 p.m. Family, friends, and community members are always welcome to join our music events.

April is Volunteer Month, and as we welcome back volunteer “Snow Birds,” we want them to know about our Volunteer Appreciation Brunch planned for May 26 at 10 a.m.

For more information about volunteer opportunities at North Shore Care Center, please contact the Activity Department at 218-3518 or go to our website www.nshorehospital. com.
