June may have arrived, but residents at North Shore Care Center patiently await warmer days and the opportunity to be outdoors again. Volunteer gardeners and staff have been busy with clean up projects and residents are starting to plant their new earth boxes. The front entrance area is looking beautiful already, too, thanks to the efforts of the Abrahamson family.
Summer is just around the corner with a Summer Solstice Jazz Concert planned for June 20 at 3 p.m. TheTuxedo Quartet will perform on the patio and highlight each musician in the ensemble – Liz Sivertson, John Gruber, Pete Cavanaugh, and Nathan Baker.
Other live music in June will include the country classic band Portage on June 27 at 6:30 p.m., as well as the weekly “regulars”- Al Fuller, Sherrie Lindskog, Susan Scherer, Harris Mills, and Nathan Baker. As always, families and community members are welcome to join in the fun.
June is International Men’s Month with plenty of activities scheduled with them in mind. There will be a Father’s Day social, and outings to Sven & Ole’s, the Wooden Boat Festival, and a picnic at the Berglund Dairy Farm. The women are always included, of course!
A June birthday party honors Janet Morgan and Donny Schulte on June 6 at 3 p.m. Both residents were born on that day and will celebrate with strawberry shortcake and live music.
