Recently the Cook County Lions and Lioness Clubs granted $6,000 to local teachers for education projects and materials. The Lioness Education Grants Committee asked teachers to submit proposals for educational projects and received 22 requests, totalling over $14,000. Clearly, the need is great. It was a challenge to select the most deserving projects, as all the proposals were impressive. The Lions and Lioness Clubs each contribute $3,000 annually to the education grant program.

Both the Lions and the Lioness Clubs welcome new members. If you’d like to participate in activities to support our youth and local nonprofits, please contact Gene Erikson, acting Lions president, at 387-2613 or gmlions@gmail.com; or Gwen Lenz, Lioness president, at 387- 9860 or gwmlenz@boreal.org.
