Warmer weather is certainly welcomed by residents at the North Shore Care Center. The month of July is National Picnic Month and Family Reunion Month, which means more families visiting and more outdoor picnics and outings in the community.
Independence Day will be the third picnic of the season at the Care Center, with another one planned at Harbor Park during the North Shore Dragon Boat practices. Other outings will include lunch at the Senior Center and a play at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.
The halfway point of the year—Day 183 of 2013—will be marked on July 2 when students from the Kids Plus summer program come to the Care Center to play bingo to win some interesting prizes!
The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on July 10 to honor Neva Marks and Joyce Kehoe. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. with piano music and a sing-a-long by Sherrie Lindskog and Nora Bockovich.
Other music this month will be performed by Al Fuller on Tuesday nights and Susan Scherer on Wednesday nights. The band Portage will be back for their classic country music for a dance on Saturday, July 27 at 6:30 p.m. Community members are always welcome!
Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers who continue to give their valuable time during these busy summer months. Also, a big welcome to youth volunteers Jaymee Dossey and Bianca Zimmer from the Incredible Exchange Program!
