Joyful activities— remembered and upcoming

The North Shore Care Center was especially festive for the holidays. The annual Christmas Eve party at North Shore Care Center for residents and families was hosted by Santa (Darrell Smith) and Mrs. Claus (Eleanor Matsis). The holiday season was busy and joyful for residents at the North Shore Care Center with lots of traditional foods, music, gifts and visitors. The residents would like to thank the carolers, musicians, and wonderful volunteers for a memorable Christmas.

There were some generous donations given for residents this season from the Emera Eastern Star Chapter, American Legion Auxiliary, First Congregational – UCC Church, Care Center staff, and several families. We are truly thankful and blessed to live in such a caring community.

2012 is here! The annual New Year’s Eve party was fun for the residents with music, dancing, bubbly champagne, and the big countdown. This year’s music highlighted Lawrence Welk’s original recorded songs from the ’50s to the ’80s.

The first dance of 2012 will feature Portage – the local country music band that performs at the Care Center the last Saturday of the month throughout the year. The dance will be Saturday, January 28 at 6:30 p.m. and community folks are always welcome to join in the fun.

The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 11 to honor Bill Erickson, Irma Larsen, and Duane Linnell. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. with piano music by Susy Lindskog.

The Lioness Club will host their monthly social for residents with special desserts on Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m. Lively piano music and sing-a-long will also be provided by Irene Thompson and Nora Bockovich.

Additional activities planned for January will include exercise groups, history sessions, movies, knitting, baking, lunch outings, and live music. Some of our regular weekly musicians will be Al Fuller, Susan Scherer, Myron Bursheim, Irene Thompson, and Harris Mills.

January 22-28 marks National Activity Professional’s Week – a time to recognize how meaningful activities enrich the quality of life for all of us. Many thanks to the Activity Department staff and to the dedicated volunteers who help make it all possible!
