Hope everyone had a Happy New Year! The ENP is easing into 2015 after a very hectic and full holiday season. Elders enjoyed the craft sale, Christmas party, shopping trips, gift wrapping, holiday concerts and events and mostly time spent with family and friends.
New Year’s resolutions have been made and the ENP is here to help you keep them. Lose weight, get out more, get involved or get healthy, if these are your goals, the ENP has a program or activity to help you succeed. There are weekly water aerobics, chair exercise, the Wisdom Steps walking/health maintenance program, Reading w/ Kids volunteering, cribbage and our monthly Nutrition with Tess.
The ENP offers a daily meal providing 1/3 of the recommended RDAs for adults 50 years and older. All these as well as transportation can be provided by the ENP. Please call Patty or Carol at 475-2655 or 2002 for information.
There are many lifestyle choices we can make to maintain a healthy body as we age. What steps can we take to support a healthy brain as we grow older? The ENP has obtained a wonderful brochure that provides good information and guidance to help us make smart choices about our brain health. The Eldercare Locator program has published the brochure Brain Health: You can make a difference! It has tips to learn more, get moving, stay connected, eat right and take charge. Please consider checking it out at the ENP.
Stay warm and enjoy the days as they are getting longer and walk carefully!
Cook County has a vibrant and active community of elders. Each week we will offer Senior News to highlight our senior citizens. This week’s submission is about the Grand Portage Elder Nutrition Program courtesy of Patty Winchell-Dahl.
