The early summer weather was certainly welcomed by the residents and staff at North Shore Care Center. Many folks were able to be outdoors to plant veggies and flowers in earth boxes and enjoy lazy afternoons with snacks on the patio. Getting outside has lifted everyone’s spirits.
The month of June means more outdoor activities, picnics, and outings and the official start of summer. On June 21 residents will mark the longest day of the year with a Fishcake Picnic—including Marion McKeever’s awardwinning fishcakes. Later in the day there will be a Solstice Jazz Concert on the patio with TheS!vertones
at 6 p.m.
Other live music groups lined up for June include the Pincushion Warblers
on June 6 at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate Donny Schulte and Janet Morgan’s birthdays, and the country band Portage
on June 26 for a dance at 6:30 p.m. Additional monthly “regular” musicians will be Al Fuller, Susan Scherer, Myron Bursheim, and Susy Lindskog. As always, families and community members are welcome to all music events.
Many thanks to the faithful volunteers who continue to commit their time and talents throughout the summer months. Special thanks to the Cook County Ministerium for the new hymnbooks and to Susy Lindskog for having the piano tuned.
The residents look forward to students from the Incredible Exchange Program starting on June 14.
