The spirit of giving is always in season at the North Shore Care Center thanks to the dedication and commitment of over 70 volunteers during 2013. The residents count their blessings for family, friends, staff, and community members who gave so much this past year.

As the holiday season begins, the giving continues with donations for the Resident Council Sale and for Secret Santa gifts. The elders look forward to visitors of all ages during December. There will be bingo with kids, a piano recital, Christmas carolers, church groups, and many local musicians.

The Sivertones jazz ensemble will perform on Thursday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. Additional music during the month will feature Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Irene Thompson on Mondays, Al Fuller on Tuesdays, and Susan Scherer on Wednesdays.

The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 11 to honor Donna Helmerson and Victor Roderick. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. along with piano music by Doug Sanders. December also marks the 84th birthday of the popular game known as bingo!

A couple of outings are planned this month thanks to Arrowhead Transit and the great drivers who make it possible every season of the year. Several residents will be attending the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Church and a holiday luncheon at the Senior Center.

‘Tis the season for the residents to get busy baking their favorite holiday cookies for the annual Christmas Eve party with families, Santa, and Mrs. Claus.

The elders will take a break to enjoy holiday dinner theaters that take place at the Care Center each year. The in-house theater will feature the classic movie White Christmas on December 13 with a special meal from Dockside Market. Another dinner theater will be on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2014 watching the movie Holiday Inn.

The residents and staff at the North Shore Hospital and Care Center want to wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
