Centenarian Day at Care Center




September 22 is national “Centenarian Day”— a day to recognize and honor individuals who have lived a century or longer.

This is a day to not only recognize these individuals, but to listen to them discuss their memories— filled with historical information from their rich lives.

There are now four centenarians residing at North Shore Care Center – four women.

All of them were born at the turn of the 20th century. All are still going strong. Theyare: .
. Anne Maurin
just turned
100 years on August 22.
She was born in 1910.
. Millie Mainella
is 102 years
and her birthday is January 16 –
born in 1908.
. Bertha Toftey
will be 102 years
and her birthday is November 24
– born in 1908.
. Margot Florell
will be 104 years
and her birthday is December 1
– born in 1906.

Join these centenarians and their friends and family for a celebration on Wednesday, September 22 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the North Shore Care Center.

Speakers will be Grand Marais Mayor Sue Hakes and Nora Bockovich. The theme of the event will be “Young at Heart.” Music will be classic tunes such as Frank Sinatra’s Young at Heart
and each of the ladies will receive a red rose from Mayor Hakes.

There will be cake, coffee,and refreshments for all. Everyone is invited!
