The warmer spring weather is certainly welcomed by residents at the North Shore Care Center. Many folks have enjoyed time on the patios and their first picnic of the year on Memorial Day. Everyone is ready for summer—whenever it gets here!
The month of June is National Gardening Month, Men’s Month, Dairy Month—and contains the first day of summer! There will be lots of outdoor activities planned for June like planting flowers and vegetables, picnics, and outings to Harbor Park and the Senior Center.
The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on June 12 to honor Janet Morgan, Donny Schulte, and Donna Willett. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. along with piano music by Doug Sanders.
On June 14, Flag Day will be observed with a history session, plus a new flag to fly on the hospital and care center grounds.
The Sivertones will mark the longest day of the year with their annual Solstice Jazz concert on June 20 at 5:30 p.m. Other live music this month will include Al Fuller, Myron Bursheim, Harris Mills, Susan Scherer and Irene Thompson. The band Portage will also perform their classic country music the last Saturday of the month on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. Community members are always welcome!
The residents and staff look forward to working with students from the Incredible Exchange Program again this summer. There are volunteer opportunities for all ages at North Shore Care Center.
