The residents at North Shore Care Center know how to beat “cabin fever” during winter – just plan lots of activities each month. February has been especially full of fun things to do with Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, the Super Bowl, and the Olympic winter games.
Residents baked cherry cheesecakes to honor Lincoln and Washington’s birthdays, and enjoyed homemade cakes on Howard Joynes and Dick Anderson’s birthdays.
A Mardi Gras dance was held on Fat Tuesday, featuring Dixieland music by North Shore Community Band. And wrapping up the month, the Portage Band
will perform its classic country music the last Saturday of the month on February 27 at 6:30 p.m. Family, friends, and community members are welcome to join any music events.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who work at the Care Center throughout the winter months – whatever the weather may be. Thespecial music and daily activities certainly lift spirits and help beat “cabin fever.”
