The holiday season at North Shore Care Center has been filled with lots of traditional foods, music, and visitors. The residents want to thank the carolers, musicians, families, and volunteers for a memorable Christmas. We are truly blessed to live in such a caring community.
On New Year’s Eve the residents will ring in 2011 with WTIP’s popular radio show Remember When
– on site at the Care Center. Theshow highlights original classic music from the ’40s and ’50s and will be hosted by Bruce MacDonald and Jane Ranum. Residents selected their favorite bands and crooners and will reminisce about them on the air. Families and friends can join in the fun at 6 p.m. or listen to the recorded show on 90.7 FM radio at 8 p.m.
The first dance of 2011 will feature Portage
– the local country music band that performs at the Care Center the last Saturday of the month throughout the year. The dance will be Saturday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. and community folks are welcome.
The monthly birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 12 to honor Duane Linnell, Nancy Oullis, Bill Erickson, Millie Mainella, and Irma Larsen. Cake and ice cream will be served at 3 p.m. with piano music by Doug Sanders.
The Lioness Club will sponsor their monthly social for residents on Saturday, January 15 at 3 p.m. with desserts and music provided by Irene Thompson.
Additional activities in January will include more movies, history sessions, knitting, and baking to get us through our coldest month of the year. There will also be two lunch outings to the Senior Center. January 16 – 22 marks National Activity Professional’s Week – a time to recognize how meaningful activities can enrich the quality of life for all of us. Many thanks to the Activity Department staff and to the dedicated volunteers who help make it all possible.
