Belinda Hudler retires

With mixed emotions the residents and staff at North Shore Living say thank you and happy retirement to our awesome activity leader, co-worker, and boss, Belinda Hudler. Belinda has put a lot of heart and soul into leading us and making sure we have a lot of fun and entertainment. Belinda has been the best boss you could ask for. Every morning she welcomed us to work, told us we are going to have a good day, gave us notes of thanks for going beyond our duties and always told us thank you for the day.

Belinda, thank you so much for all your time and love you have given to our residents and to North Shore Living.

I, Lisa Bloomquist, am the new activities director. I am so excited to do this job. While many of my classmates are looking at retirement, I am starting my career.

In April we have been enjoying daily devotions for those who want them, doing word puzzles and turning them back in with the hopes of winning the big prize at the end of the week. We have wonderful visits from staff, and joyful cards, letters and drawings from awesome people like you. It means so much to the residents to receive cards filled with love and encouragement and even little tidbits about what’s going on around them.

I read a letter to one of our residents the other day that also had pictures drawn by a couple of sweet children. The resident had the hugest smile on her face as she looked at the drawings and exclaimed, “That was fun, that was fun”!

Another fun activity going on with new technology for a lot of folks is FaceTiming with their loved ones. The joy expressed on the residents’ faces as they can see and hear their family over the air is priceless.

We received fresh cut flowers through donations given on our behalf to Terra Bella Floral just in time to brighten our rooms and common areas for Easter. Thank you so much to the ladies who donated this beautiful gift. The residents absolutely loved them. They said to tell you thank you!

The secure patio is up and ready so now we need a few sunny days. Social distancing will have to be worked out, but I can’t help but think of the excitement of being let out of school for recess.

May- who knows what it has in store for us? Hopefully we will be able to join in fun with our family and friends here at North Shore Living. If not, our hair will definitely keep our beauty operator in business when she is able to return to us, more books will be read, more hallway bingo will be played, more FaceTiming with family, more trivia, word puzzles and devotions. More cards and letters? Yes, please!

To all our devoted volunteers we miss you and hope you are doing well! This place definitely has more happening with you in it.

Please call the Activity Department 218-387-3518 to make arrangements via Skype and FaceTime to visit with your loved ones. Please call to make arrangements to have window visits at the end of the 200 and 300 family room areas. Please do not come to resident windows to visit with your loved ones and please do not come on to the patio area to visit with residents in the courtyard. We are working hard at trying to keep them safe and we ask you to do the same.
