Gunflint Trail Historical Society receives grant

The Minnesota Historical Society recently announced the newest recipients of 30 Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Small Grants ($10,000 and less), totaling $268,192 to organizations in 16 counties. Opioid deaths on the rise during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reports that preliminary data shows a 59 percent increase from 2019 to 2020 for all opioid involved deaths among Minnesota residents (412 to 654 deaths). Deaths involving synthetic opioids, including fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, increased 81 percent (298 to 539 deaths), and were involved in 82 percent of all opioid-involved deaths.
