Single vehicle crash sends Grand Marais man to hospital

A single vehicle crash in Lutsen sent a Grand Marais man to the hospital on August 9. Terry Halvorson, 39, was driving east in a 2001 Kia Rio on Highway 61 in Lutsen at about 11:48 a.m. on August 9. County board joins Grand Portage in opposition to listing moose as an endangered species

Following the lead of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior, Cook County commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday, August 16 asking the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service not to list the moose as an endangered or threatened species. Air travelers pleased with improved runway at Cook County Airport

The Grand Marais/Cook County Airport runway reopened for air traffic on Friday, August 5, 2016 and Airport Manager Rod Roy said within 10 minutes several planes had arrived on the newly lengthened, widened and resurfaced runway.
