ATV used to rescue missing hiker

An overdue hiker led to an hourslong search on September 30. Fortunately 75-year-old Charles Santmire of Raymond, Minnesota, was found within a few hours, but the rescue—on the rugged Cascade River trail known as “the 96 steps”—took several more hours. Wolf unharmed after being caught in trap

Cook County Law Enforcement received a call at 11:19 a.m. on September 25 from a customer at Trail Center Lodge reporting that a wolf had been seen with its leg caught in a trap in the Gunflint Trail area.
