November is off to a good start. Everyone is on the correct time having said good-bye to daylight savings time. The Elder Nutrition Program (ENP) hosted an AARP Driver Refresher class the first week of November. Eight Elders participated and are now able to claim their 10 percent car insurance discount. What a beautiful September we all enjoyed! The weather was so nice, really a great last hurrah for our short summer. The Elders enjoyed the annual grandparent’s day B-B-Q and picnic. Great time for Elders at Wisdom Steps Convention

Fourteen Elders were able to attend this year’s Wisdom Steps Convention in Morton, Minnesota at Lower Sioux’s Jack Pot Junction Casino & Event Center. We went from the top of the state to the bottom. The Elders had a wonderful Elder’s Pow-Wow. Chi Miigwech to the RTC, the Pow-Wow committee, cooks and everyone who made this a very wonderful time for us. The Grand Portage Elders had a successful and fun St. Patrick’s Day Stew Cook Off and Meat Bingo fundraiser. The lucky winners—there was a tie for the tastiest stew— were Rick Johnson and Judy Ranta. Grand Portage celebrates the month of hearts and love

February is the month of hearts and love and the Grand Portage Elder Nutrition Program participants have been celebrating. The staff all wore red on February 7 to support “Wear Red Day” for women’s heart health. Throughout the month, information cards have been on tables and sent out with lunch deliveries. The Elders enjoyed November celebrating Veterans Day and Thanksgiving with family and friends. We held a very successful 8th Annual Chili Cook Off & Meat Bingo.
