The Cook County girls’ basketball team hit the road last week, playing Albrook on Jan. 6 and Carlton on Jan. 7, winning both games in convincing fashion. The Viking boys’ basketball team lost a nail-biter to the Carlton Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 7 at Carlton, falling 46-44. Grand Marais adventurer Lonnie Dupre’s goal to become the first person to solo Denali (Mount McKinley) in January is on hold due to inclement weather. Boat wreckage at the Rock Cut might be identified

A large piece of riveted metal believed to be from a ship’s engine that was uncovered on the shore near Cutface Creek off Highway 61 at Rock Cut beach might be from the Bob Anderson. Property owners question hospital levy increase
