Concerning the article on the zip line. I intended to let the mayor’s comment on the zip line go by until my family asked if I was going to write. I had only read the front page so I said I wasn’t. However, when I read the rest I’ve got to say, “Mr. Mayor, you’ve got things backward.” You say you would vote for rezoning but not the zip line. Why?
I agree that owners in that area should have the say over whether it should be rezoned, but to only rezone would open the way for frequent fights over what could be built in that area.
When it comes to the zip line my family all agree that a zip line fits in perfectly with the area. We were in Colorado a while ago and went on a great zip line (five times back and forth across a canyon). This included me at over 80 years old and I thought it was great! To me it is on par with the Alpine slide and mini-golf. Such activities might bring more families where some members love hunting, fishing and hiking and others don’t.
Could it be that the present owners might prefer a special permit for the zip line without the zone change? It makes sense to me!
