Zachary John Maruska, 33, of Grand Marais, passed away at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Zachary John “Zack Man” Maruska was born on August 27, 1984 to George and Laurel (Olson) Maruska in Duluth. Zack graduated from Cook County High School with the class of 2003.
After graduation, Zack moved to Duluth to further his education at Lake Superior College. He worked for Super One Foods while living in Duluth.
In 2009, Zack moved back to Grand Marias and worked for his father George at George F. Maruska CPA LTD.
Zack enjoyed basketball, jewelry making, working out, movies, going to the library, listening to music (his favorite artist being, Marshall Mathers), culinary and watching the Food Network.
Zachary is survived by his parents George and Laurel of Detroit Lakes; brother Tyler of Grand Marais and twin brother Kyle of Waconia, Minn.; aunts and uncles Wayne and Renee, Dennis and Dale, Carol and Marvin, Catherine and Darryl, Louise, Mary and Jim, Gina and Michael, Connie, Julie and Rodger, Kelley and Steve, Jayme and Mike; cousins Christy, Travis, Erika, Andrew, Elizabeth, Philip, Anna, Amanda, Nicole, Katherine, Ashley, Kelsey, Colton, Lillie, Nikki, Shelby, Tony, Joey, Savanah, Conner and Jack.
Preceding Zack in death were his grandparents George A. and Lillian Maruska, Dolores Dierker, Gene Olson, and Leon Dierker; cousins Kelsey Maruska, Carter Michael and Ericka Simmers.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 21, at the David- Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
