Last spring a group of junior high girls approached volleyball coaches Kelly Roberts and Jennifer Sutton hoping to play volleyball to gain some experience before their season began. After lengthy discussions and researching the Star of the North Games was found to fit the request.

So last spring, 35 girls formed three teams and traveled to St. Cloud to compete in the Star of the North Games for volleyball. The experience of competing against other volleyball players from around the region for two full days was invaluable and the girls want to do it again.

To get to the Star of the North Games again, the following fundraisers have been scheduled: Saturday, March 24, a pancake breakfast at the Upper Deck of Blue Water Café from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5.00 per person ages 6 and above; $3.00 per child ages 5 and under. Also, on Friday, April 20 there will be a meat bingo at American Legion Post 413 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The money raised will pay for entry fees, travel expenses to Rochester this summer and uniforms. Athletic Director Pam Taylor said, “Please come out and support Star of the North volleyball teams.”
