YMCA to host free Easter event for community

Local parents were saddened to hear that the annual Easter event put on by Kids Plus was not going to take place this year. Pictures with the Easter Bunny and hunting for eggs is a highlight for many kids this time of year. The YMCA acted fast and came up with a solution to fill the gap. “It will certainly be different than what people have experienced in the past, but it is sure to be an EGG-Cellent time for all!” says YMCA Executive Director, Emily Marshall. The event will be held on Friday, April 19 from 6-8:30 p.m.

An Underwater Easter Egg Hunt will take place from 6-7:45 p.m. in the pool. “We will be turning on the water slide and pouring 3,000 Easter Eggs into the pool for kids to collect and earn prizes. Some of the eggs will float and some will sink and they will be located in all sections of the pool,” says Marshall. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Children must have a deep end wristband indicating that they have passed the deep end test in order to enter the deep end. No new deep end tests will be administered during this event.

Open gym will also be an activity at the event and toys will be available in the gym for families. There will also be photos with the Easter Bunny. At 8 p.m., when it gets dark, there will be an outdoor flashlight Easter Egg hunt. Hundreds of light-up Easter Eggs will be hidden on the grounds behind the Y and each one will have a surprise inside. The event will be FREE and all ages are welcome to attend.
