If you tune in to WTIP, you will frequently hear the tagline, “It’s all about the listener.” That was not the case last week—it was all about the folks on-air. Congratulations to WTIP staff and volunteers on earning recognition at the 2010 Minnesota AP Broadcasters Awards.
Station staff and volunteers regularly produce features that bring forward a variety of voices and perspectives on topics that explore the rich culture of the North Shore region.
Several of these features have been singled out for recognition by AP. WTIP’s Ada Igoe received first place in the writing category for her commentary entitled Of Woods and Words: The Wave.
Receiving honorable mentions were Magnetic North: Rite of Passage—Boiling Bear Bait by Vicki Biggs-Anderson, Points North: After Centuries of Wildlife Destruction, Have We Learned Anything? by Shawn Perich, Walking the Old Road: Katie’s Point by Staci Lola Drouillard, Legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps by Ada Igoe, and History Speaks: Rails, Mines, Madams, and Crooks by Barbara Jean Johnson.
