WTIP North Shore Community Radio will once again provide live broadcasts of several Cook County Vikings boys’ and girls’ basketball games starting Tuesday, December 2.
WTIP volunteers Norman Moe and Dick Dorr will provide playby play coverage of eight doubleheader Cook County Vikings’ games, spread throughout the basketball season.
“It’s important to WTIP to provide this service,” says WTIP’s Executive Director Deb Benedict. “It supports local sports and brings the games to those who otherwise wouldn’t have access.”
WTIP has been providing local sports coverage for more than 15 years. Over the years, broadcasts have grown into a service that is depended upon and greatly appreciated throughout WTIP’s listening area and beyond.
Volunteer efforts make the sports broadcast service possible. “WTIP would like to thank Norman Moe and Dick Dorr,” says Benedict, “who have been volunteering their time and talents to make the play-by-play coverage possible, and to WTIP’s engineer Jeff Nemitz, who lends his technical expertise.”
Tune in to 90.7 FM on the North Shore, 89.1 FM on the Gunflint Trail, 90.1 FM in Grand Portage, or online at www.wtip.org to listen to the broadcasts. More information about sports broadcasts, as well as a basketball broadcast schedule, is available on WTIP’s website at www.wtip.org.
