WTIP is happy to announce that the 15th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival will return to Sweetheart›s Bluff in the Grand Marais Rec Park this fall. A community-outreach event that began in 2007, this annual festival has become a tradition for fans of eclectic local and regional music.
The station is planning for a 3 p.m. start on Friday, September 9th, with musical acts continuing all day Saturday, September 10th and throughout the morning on Sunday the 11th . WTIP Executive Director Matthew Brown shared that, “the station is excited to return to a live, outdoor music format this fall,” adding that, “we’ll be welcoming new acts to the music roster and inviting a number of Radio Waves favorites back to the stage, at a time when people are really missing live music.”
The 2022 festival will return to the Rec Park, after two years as a virtual, on-air event in 2020 and 2021, due to public health and safety concerns caused by Covid-19. WTIP will continue to monitor public health recommendations and public safety announcements throughout the spring and summer.
