WTIP Community Radio welcomes Maryam Torabi to the WTIP staff as development director.
Maryam is a newer resident of Cook County. She hails from Isfahan, Iran and has lived and worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, since 2004. She loves the outdoors and open horizons and her BWCAW dreams have brought her to Grand Marais. She has over a decade of public non-profit experience, as well as a background in business analytics and management. She joins Jana Berka on the development team, is already getting to know the operations and management of the station’s underwriting and member outreach and is pitching in on the fall membership drive. Maryam is transitioning into the role previously filled by Staci Drouillard, who will remain on the WTIP team as Legacy Projects Coordinator.
“It is an honor for me to join WTIP! Having moved here in 2020, I witnessed the critical role of our local station in bringing the community together and making us feel connected. I hope to create richer experiences for our donors and volunteers and help maintain and uplift WTIP’s fundraising,” said Maryam.
WTIP is an independent community radio station broadcasting from Grand Marais since 1998. More information about programming and services – including archived stories and features – can be found online at www.wtip.org.
