I am writing to express my support in returning Mike Littfin to the Arrowhead Electric Cooperative Board. I have worked with Mike for the last three years as the Arrowhead representative on the Great River Energy board of directors.
Mike has provided valuable and thoughtful insight at board and committee meetings. As the representative of Arrowhead Electric, GRE’s smallest member co-op, he is a strong advocate for the challenges faced by small rural coops. At the same time, he considers the challenges GRE faces in meeting the energy requirements of its 28-member co-ops that serve over 1.6 million people in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
In May 2018, Mike and Clay Van De Bogart of Dakota Electric Co-op, the second-largest co-op in the GRE family, made a joint resolution. This resolution states that Great River Energy adopt a corporate goal of 50 percent renewable energy by 2030 for all its member-owner cooperatives which includes Arrowhead Electric. This resolution passed.
As you can see, Mike is a strong advocate for the various concerns of our member-owners and co-ops, including environmental stewardship, affordable energy costs and reliable service. He always champions the needs of his memberowners, from both the local level and at GRE.
Please consider returning Mike to the Arrowhead Electric board. In the past three years he has helped shape Arrowhead and GRE goals to meet the needs of individual owner members and co-ops. With the foundation he has laid, he will continue to be a strong advocate for Arrowhead member-owners as he continues to shape future GRE policy.
