Writer thanks city council for its stance on preventing youth from using tobacco products

On behalf of the Cook County Local Mental Health Advisory Council and the Cook County Public Health and Human Services Advisory Council, I thank the Grand Marais City Council for its support in working towards preventing youth from using commercial tobacco products.

In the City Council Meeting on July 14, the City Councilors were very supportive of streamlining the license and compliances processes for commercial tobacco and the impacts of those processes on youth.

The CCLMHAC and the CCPHHSAC Members appreciate your willingness to support community health through working to help keep youth from using commercial tobacco products. If community members are looking for tobacco treatment resources for youth, they can find services available at mylifemyquit.org.

Thank you, again, to the council for their partnership in working toward keeping youth free from the longterm health risks that come with tobacco addiction.

Andrea Orest,
Coordinator of the Cook
County Statewide Health
Improvement Partnership
