Recently there were a couple articles in the News- Herald about the Alfred Saethre house burning and later 50 chickens were stolen.
We moved to Olaf Berglund’s home on the Devil Track Road in June 1929. It was the homestead built by Peter Rindahl. The house burned Oct. 19, 1929 and our family lived at Andrew Hedstrom’s until their summer kitchen was moved to the spot where the house had burned. Additions were made before we moved back there later in the winter.
The chickens were cared for and eggs gathered by going over to the farm. People have wondered why no one heard the noise – no one lived close!
My mother never mentioned these things.
