It’s hard to believe what some folks will say just to get themselves elected. They must think we haven’t been paying attention to what they’ve actually done while they’ve been supposedly representing us.
Take Commissioner Bursheim, you’d think we’d all be set for life, nothing to worry about. He’s evidently got everything under control since he came on board four years ago. He claims to have “successfully stabilized the county’s financial management after years of mismanagement by prior boards.”
And how’d he do it? It’s simple. By never saying, “no” to spending our tax dollars.
He also claims to have “Protected the public’s interest by establishing citizen representation on the County Budget Advisory Committee.” Anyone ever taken the time to talk with one of those citizen representatives?
Bursheim claims “it’s irresponsible not to increase a levy,” and yet when it came time to vote on giving employees the highest raise in the nearly century and a half that we’ve been a county, he didn’t even have a clue what the numbers were. I think he needs to hear the taxpayer’s definition for irresponsible.
He also claims “Openness and accountability go hand-in-hand with transparency.” Any time I found myself prying for an answer to my questions, he’d come back with another one of his claims, “I’m ‘bullying’ him!” And, believe me, I’m not alone on this. Others have experienced the same thing.
There’s so much that could be said to set the record straight about Bursheims claims.
In all my years of building solid foundations to prevent buildings from sinking into the ground, I learned the importance of choosing the right material to start with. Myron isn’t the right material. He’s proved that over the past four years. Contrary to his claim that he’s put the county on “solid ground,” we’ve found ourselves “sinking into the ground.”
Let’s face it, some folks will say anything just to get themselves elected.
