Writer expresses gratitude and thanks to local medical staff providers

I was very sick last winter with Covid and pneumonia. Grand Portage staff brought me by ambulance to the North Shore ER. When I arrived my oxygen level was very low and there were no beds available. They wanted to get me admitted to a hospital with an ICU right away. Kimber Wraalstad (CEO) personally called 14 hospitals in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Nobody had space available.

Doctor Kurt Farchmin and his staff sat with me around the clock as I struggled to breathe. He had called a friend at St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth who made space for me in an ICU room with another patient. I stayed there for 14 days, barely alive. When I was well enough, they moved me to the Covid unit where I spent another month and eventually I was moved back to North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais. The staff there did miraculous work with me. I would like to give a deep thanks to my PT, Sharon Berglund; my Nurse, Sandy Rude; and Dr Paul Terrill who made sure that I received the best care possible!
