WOW bike program continues to grow

Thanks, thanks, thanks…

WOW, the bike loan program for international foreign workers has really proven a success. The UCC/ Cong. Church’s outreach program continues to steadily grow. WOW volunteers estimate that the total season’s bikes loaned will be over 90!

Started in 2010, used bikes from the county, and even Twin Cities, have assisted in inventory growth. Recently, some individuals have also donated funds to help offset the project’s costs for repairs. There is definitely an increasing need for funds, as well as bikes.

In the past, WOW has, and still will, accept any donated bike. However, with the continued sophistication of equipment, better condition bikes are most needed. This issue is being better addressed, as donators become aware of the condition issue and opportunity to donate monies. Any fixable bike will still be accepted, but funding is especially critical to continue to do repairs. Tax credit forms are available for donation credit.

The newest WOW slogan is “Bikes & Bucks.”

Both types of donations are gladly accepted at the UCC/Cong. Church office. Any questions can also be answered by telephoning 218-387-2113 (church office) or Dan Strayer, WOW representative at 512-567- 0653.
