Learn how to use the free software WordPress to create and manage professional-looking websites during workshops on Monday, July 1 at Cook County Higher Ed.
Instructor Don Bremer has previously taught WordPress training at Higher Ed and received excellent ratings from his students. For the July 1 training, he will focus on WordPress II and WordPress III, though he also will touch on the basics of WordPress I.
From 9 a.m. to noon, WordPress II will walk you through how to install a test WordPress site on your computer (whether Mac or PC). This is a great way to test ideas before actually doing them on an Internet site. Then learn about 10 widgets that help organize your work on the website and with other people.
From 1-4 p.m., WordPress III will cover how to connect a WordPress site to Paypal for people to purchase individual items or to use free shopping cart programs to allow people to buy multiple items at a time.”
Do you want to have multiple people be able to update your site? This workshop will cover how to give different employees/ users of your site different rights to modify the web pages. It will also cover using the WordPress cousin Wikimedia to create a body of information about everything from your family to any products you may have.
You may sign up for either of the workshops or both. Cost for each workshop is $60. That is the same price you would pay for the same training from the same instructor in Duluth. But you avoid the time and expense of travel to and from Duluth.
Space in each workshop is limited to 15 students. To register for one or both of the July 1 workshops, call Jim Boyd at 387- 3411 or email jboyd@northshorecampus.org. He will send you a registration form, which you must fill out and return with payment by June 26 to ensure your place in the workshop(s). If fewer than eight students sign up, one or both of the workshops will be cancelled.
