Crowds enjoyed watching the Wood-Mizer LT 40 Hydraulic mill last year. It will be back at Lumber Camp again this year, turning Ham Lake wildfire damaged trees to usable boards!
Wood-Mizer, the world’s largest manufacture of portable band sawmills is happy to be a part of Fisherman’s Picnic again and will be offering sawmill demonstrations Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On site demos will focus on the simple and safe nature of the Wood- Mizer sawmill operation. Professionals and wood enthusiasts will find the exhibitions interesting and informative. Whether your interest is a sawmill business, building your own house, utilizing renewable resources, salvaging timber or you just want to see some nice logs turn into boards, this display is for you.
The demonstrations will be run with large white pine logs salvaged from the Ham Lake fire of 2007. Spectators will see a little of every thing. The sawing will display the initial deterioration of downed logs and also the effect that bugs have on the outer layers. You may even get to see one of the large boring worms working its way through the wood. You’ll see the beauty of the blue stains left on the outer cuts while the centers will still be clear and solid.
Come out and enjoy the hum of a Wood- Mizer LT40 Hydraulic mill as it makes perfect boards with very little sawdust waste.
