Wish list comes with costs

The projects to be funded by the 1% sales tax sound like a good idea, but… In the past, construction has been funded by the sales tax dollars, but then these buildings/ projects must be staffed and maintained. Increases in property tax to cover? Again?

A telephone system run by the county…the purpose being supporting broadband—accessible and affordable to how many people, at what cost? How many employees to keep it going? Maintenance issues again.

At the risk of repeating myself, I point out again that in the past, increased building size, etc., has resulted in unexpected upkeep costs. Things to keep in mind as we decide on “yes” or “no” votes. Sales tax and telephone exchange are separate issues— supporting one does not necessarily mean supporting both.

Sure, we have a wish list. But is it possible, or even desirable, to have all of the amenities available to a Twin Cities suburbanite? Doing without some of the conveniences might just go with the territory.
