Birch Grove Community School received a grant of $586 from the WISE (Women’s Initiative for Service and Education) Lions Club to purchase paint by number kits for K-5th grade. Students worked on their pieces at home during distance learning and/or on site at school. Speaking about the gift, Birch Grove Community School Director Diane Blanchette said, “We hope that these paintings will bring happy memories for years to come. Thank you, so much WISE/ Lions Club!”

Sara Silence, a second and third grade BGCS teacher offered, “It was hard and fun, and some of my kids placed their own orders to do a second one this summer!” Thanks for the grants that helped us try something new.

“This project gave us the opportunity to get away from technology and allow students to relax, reflect, and enjoy creating a piece that they could take pride in,” said Blanchette. “All of the students, K-5, had their projects on display for families to view on graduation day – there were lots of smiles, and requests to do this every year.”

Her smile says it all. Creating a work of art this nice would please anyone!
