In February, the Cook County Early Childhood Coalition hosted its first family, friend and neighbor activity— Winter Wonderland. About 75 children ranging from two weeks to five years old, along with parents, caregivers and older siblings, enjoyed the warm and cozy atmosphere of the Birch Grove Community Center, which was filled with fun and developmentally stimulating activities.

Although ferocious winds kept families inside, there were plenty of activities to keep the children warm, happy and engaged. Each family received a free storybook and activity packet with ideas for at-home activities. Organizer Lynn Sheils said, “Thank you to members of the Early Childhood Coalition, MN Power, Birch Grove Foundation, and Birch Grove Community School for helping to make this event such a success.”

The Cook County Early Childhood Coalition consists of early childhood professionals, educators, childcare providers and family members who are invested in creating positive, enriching experiences and environments for the youngest members of our community. If you would like to be involved in this coalition effort, please contact Lynn Sheils, Coalition Coordinator, at 387-2271 x446.
