Winter coaches for 2021-2022



Winter sports are upon us. Both the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams are practicing for the upcoming season. The girls' first home game will be December 3 versus North Woods. Varsity action starts at 6:30 p.m. while the Junior Varsity players take the floor at 4:45 pm. The girls' 7th and 8th grade team plays in the Y gym at 4:45 p.m. The boys open at Northeast Range on December 7. The Viking Nordic Ski team travels to Proctor on December 9 for their first meet of the season and the alpine ski team will participate in a meet at Giants Ridge at a date to be determined. I.S.D. 166 will have some new coaches this winter, and some familiar names who return to coaching.

Alpine skiing head coach will be John Oberholtzer. His two volunteer assistants will be Gene Dressely and Plamen Dimitrov.

The new Nordic Skiing head coach will be Jeanne Wright. Jeanne will have four volunteer coaches to assist her. They are Angie Robinson, Mike Crook, Dave and Becky Bartol.

Kelly Hawsen returns as the girls’ head basketball coach. Her husband, Kyler Hawsen will once again assist her, as will Rachel Seim. Jenna Berglund will coach sixth through eighth grades and Betsy Jorgenson will volunteer to coach the fourth and fifth grades.

Andy Feddema is back for his second year as head coach of the boys’ basketball team. Keaton Riley is the assistant coach. Brian Miller and Tom Nalezny will coach seventh and eighth grade boys with Kyle Oberg as a volunteer assistant helping them.

Ben Peters heads up the fourth through sixth grade boys’ program.

Long time Robotics head coach Tom Nelson returns and this year he will have a co-head coach, Kevin Anderson.
