Don Lehto’s 252.8-pound field dressed buck held up as the largest deer entered in Buck’s 2015 “Big Buck” contest.
Lehto won a bolt action 30-06 for his entry.
Mark Harrington and Patrick O’Sullivan, 243.8 and 228.2 pound bucks respectively, finished second and third.
Seth Williams and Dan Kort tied for first in the Antler Spread division. Each of their bucks had a 21-inch antler spread. For their winning entries Kort and Williams were both awarded $1,012.50. Last week’s leader in the antler spread was found to be ineligible, said Jon of Buck’s Hardware Hank.
With 405 entrants in this year’s contest each paying $10 to enter, and the pot split between the Antler Spread division and the contest winner, Rusty Johnson of Hovland was the biggest winner of the day when his name was pulled from the box. Johnson won $2,025.
