Winners announced in the 30th annual Buck’s Big Buck contest

Buck’s Hardware’s 30th annual Big Buck contest wrapped up at the close of Minnesota’s firearm season last weekend, and several hunters were rewarded with some very nice prizes.

Duon Olson’s 224- pound field dressed buck took first place in the contest. For his win Duon will receive a new 30-30 rifle. A 30-30 rifle was selected, said Buck’s Hardware owner Stephen Skeels, to commemorate and celebrate the 30th year of the contest.

In the largest antler spread category, Gary Leeds’ large buck had the largest antler spread at 20 ½ inches. Gary had the second largest buck entered, weighing in at 218 pounds.

Cameron Sjoberg of Grand Marais was the lucky winner of the drawing. Cameron had his ticket pulled from the 397 tickets purchased at $10 each.

Both Sjoberg and Leeds
