Dominic Wilson, a member of the Cook County Community YMCA North Shore Rollers, recently placed third at the LaCrosse Open in the U13 boys’ logrolling division.

The logrolling competition featured pros and amateurs and is one of the tune-ups for the Lumberjack World Championships that will be held in Hayward, Wisconsin from July 23-25.

Antony Polentini and Larsen Birdsong beat Wilson in a tough competition that saw eight pretty evenly matched rollers go head to head in a round-robin competition that was won by the competitor with the least falls.

At age 12, Wilson is in the middle age of his bracket, which means he has to roll against 13-year-olds who tend to be a little bit bigger and stronger. Still, the U10 world champion has been slowly catching up to his competitors and with Worlds fast approaching, he could once again land on the podium.
