In a hotly contested battle of the two Dominicks, on this day it was Illinois roller Dominick Magnone over Grand Marais roller Dominic Wilson in the always-tough boys’ U13 class at the LaCrosse Open.

“I was up two falls to none but he came back to win the next three falls,” Wilson told the News- Herald. “It was a great match.”

The two logrollers have competed against each other many times, and both have beaten each other in matches that are always close.

The competition was held Saturday, June 18 at Northside Pool near Logan Middle School in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Wilson was the lone Cook County YMCA North Shore Roller at the LaCrosse Open this year. Normally more kids go to the tournament but with an always-busy summer schedule, only Wilson had the time to go to the meet this year.

After a so-so year in 2015, Wilson hopes to get back on the podium at the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin, July 28-30. Wilson was the boys’ U10 world champion at the 2014 Lumberjack World Championships.
