Wilmer “Sweeney” Croft passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the North Shore Care Center at the age of 96. He was one of 10 children raised in Croftville.
Wilmer was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the First Armored Division Corps of Engineers.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Many locals tried to find his favorite fishing spots, both in summer and in the cold winter.
Wilmer is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris; son Gary; daughter Lynetta (Sheldon) Houglum; three grandchildren, Stacy Houglum, Sherri (Bobby) Deschampe, and Jody (Tony) Smith; eight great-grandchildren; brother Richard and sister Delores; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
To honor “Sweeney’s” wishes, there will be no funeral services.
