Will Ramberg makes first team All-Conference

If you do the math, Will Ramberg’s numbers on the hard-court added up to one great season. Even with a body on him Will was pretty unstoppable this year. Few players donning a Vikings’ uniform have had the kind of success that Will Ramberg had on the basketball court this past season.

The 6’3” guard/forward averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds per game, often scoring in bunches late in games when his team needed him the most.

For his outstanding all-around play area coaches voted him to the Polar League “Big” All-Conference first team.

A consummate gym rat, Will dedicated himself to improving his play each year. It wasn’t unusual to see Will practicing basketball following the end of basketball practice. As the lone senior starting for the Vikings, he was great at sharing the ball, often passing up shots to find an open teammate. Ramberg could be depended on to get the big rebound when it was most needed or to make a block on a shot when it really counted.

Next up for Will is college. Gifted academically as well as athletically, he will attend school in Montreal at prestigious McGill University, an academic powerhouse in the sciences and fields of medicine, and play basketball for the Redmen and Martlets. Considered more of a Division 2 school for basketball when compared to U.S. colleges, none the less they opened their 2018-2019 schedule by playing Mississippi, Cincinnati, South Dakota State, Vermont and Duke (yes, that Duke), all NCAA schools.

It should be quite an adventure and challenge for Will, but Viking fans know he will work hard and improve. No one could ask more from one of the best kids to ever wear a Viking uniform.
